Northern BC Communities in the Northern Health Region

Northern Health RegionNorthern Health covers an area of nearly 600,000 square kilometers in size (view a detailed map of the region). That's an area larger than France. Northern Health offers health services in over two dozen communities through 50 health facilities (including hospitals, community health centres, public health units, and long-term care facilities). The population of our communities ranges from a few hundred people to over 80,000 people.

Our vast landscape features rugged shorelines, coastal and island communities, rivers and lakes, fertile prairie, rolling foothills and majestic mountains. Our climate includes all four distinct seasons, each offering its own beauty. Whether you enjoy hiking, exploring, whale-watching, cross-country skiing, fishing or mountain biking, you’ll discover a variety of exciting recreational opportunities in this spectacular landscape.

Anchored by major cities including Prince George, Prince Rupert, Terrace, Fort St. John, and Quesnel, health care professionals will find Northern BC the ideal place to call home.

Over 7000 employees in partnership with physicians provide a wide range of patient care and support within the three health service areas of Northern Health.

Within each community, a wide selection of amenities are available to meet your needs and desires. Diverse services and entertainment options exist, including musical and theatre productions, libraries, shopping, and more.
