Stikine Health Centre
Our clinic provides a wide variety of experience in any given day. With the closest hospital approximately 600 km away in Terrace, BC, we must provide emergency services for everyone coming through our doors. The pristine outdoor environment provides a recreational area for summer and winter activities. Being a small facility, everyone works together to provide excellent patient care.

The Stikine Health Centre does not have acute or long term care beds. Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 08:30 until 16:40. A physician, nurse and laboratory/x-ray are available 24 hours on a call-in basis for emergency services. We average about 1200 ER visits per year and service a population of about 2000 from the surrounding area with 400 people living in Dease Lake village. During the summer, this increases depending on the numbers of employees in the outlying mining camps and the number of tourists passing through to the Yukon and Alaska. We have two full time physicians, three full time nurses and one full time combined laboratory/x-ray technician. We have two office staff and one full-time position in maintenance and in housekeeping with casual staff for relief.  We offer public health and palliative care services as well as physician clinics.

Dease Lake Community
The Stikine region is one of the most spectacular pristine wilderness areas remaining virtually untamed. The Stikine Region encompasses an area of 153,600 sq. km. and is the home of the Stikine River, one of the last free-flowing wilderness rivers in North America. The Stikine Region and Dease Lake are considered remote. Amenities usually taken for granted are absent. While there are basic services and goods available, mail orders and/or special deliveries are common. Dease Lake does have a small airport with regular scheduled flights from Smithers three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). Dease Lake is a government center, supply and service point. Dease Lake offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. What Dease Lake may lack in amenities, it makes up for in natural beauty and outdoor adventure such as camping, horseback riding, river rafting, fishing, boating, hiking, hunting, jet-boating, wildlife viewing guided tours and flight-seeing.
