Chetwynd (pop.3,100) is located on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains and is the transportation hub of the Peace River Region. The 4 seasons and diverse surrounding landscapes supply many outdoor recreation opportunities for residents. The local industry includes oil, gas, coal and forestry. Ranching and tourism also support the economy.

Chetwynd is known for the many chain saw carvings displayed throughout the town and parks carved by artists who come from across the world to participate in the Chetwynd International Chainsaw Carving Championship.
