Chetwynd General Hospital is a five acute care bed hospital, with seven long-term beds. Services include emergency, medical inpatient, palliative care, primary care nursing, home support and respiratory therapy.

Chetwynd is the Chainsaw Carving Capital of the World and has an outdoor gallery of over 170 chainsaw carvings, created during its annual International Chainsaw Carving Championship. These sculptures are displayed throughout the town and attract artists and visitors globally.
Located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Chetwynd is the Gateway to the Peace Region and serves as a key entry point to northeastern British Columbia via Highway 97.
Rich outdoor recreation
Surrounded by provincial parks like Gwillim Lake, Moberly Lake, and Pine Le Moray, the area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, fishing, canoeing, and camping. The Murray River Canoe Route is a scenic 50 km paddle through pristine wilderness.

Popular hiking spots include the Centurion Trail and Ol’ Baldy Ridge. The Chetwynd Community Forest also features interpretive trails and cross-country ski routes.
Local heritage
The Little Prairie Heritage Museum preserves the town’s pioneer history, including artifacts and stories from early settlers. The town was originally named Little Prairie before being renamed in 1962 to honor Ralph Chetwynd.
