Peace River Regional District (PRRD) Scholarship

Eligibility

Individuals living or working in the Peace River Regional district may be eligible if they are:

  • High school students who are considering enrolling in a health care program
  • Looking to change careers and become health care workers
  • Already in health care or technical careers with the Northern Health Authority but want to upgrade their skills

Scholarship

Various amounts depending on category. Scholarships may assist with the cost of tuition, textbooks and/or course materials.

Eligibility

  • Pharmacy Technician positions in Haida Gwaii, Prince Rupert, Dawson Creek and Fort St. John that are considered difficult to fill

Prototype Rural Retention Incentive (PRRI)

The PRRI of up to $2,000/quarter will be available to regular full and part-time employees based on hours worked, up to 1.0 FTE, during the eligibility periods, working in one of the following communities:

  • Chetwynd
  • Daajing Giids
  • Dawson Creek
  • Fort Nelson
  • Fort St. John
  • Hazelton
  • Hudson’s Hope
  • Masset
  • Prince Rupert
  • Tumbler Ridge

Which occupations are included?

The PRRI has been expanded to include all classifications of positions.

Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine Scholarship and Bursaries

Eligibility

Health career development scholarships for Northern Health employees:

  • Applicants must be a current Northern Health employee in the Regional District Kitimat-Stikine region looking to upskill, interested in continued employment with the Northern Health Authority following program completion, and willing to commit to a two (2) year Return of Service Agreement in the RDKS region.

Health career access scholarships for high school graduates:

  • Applicants must have either graduated from a high school in the RDKS region in the last 12 months, or are graduating in the current year. Applicants must also be currently residing in the RDKS region with a minimum two (2) years residency and be interested in employment with the Northern Health Authority following program completion.

Scholarship

Health career development scholarships for Northern Health employees:

  • Six (6) scholarships in the amount of $2,500.00 are available to individuals who are accepted to a recognized post-secondary health science program, or equivalent. 

Health career access scholarships for high school graduates:

  • Six (6) scholarships in the amount of $2,500.00 are available to individuals who are accepted to a recognized post-secondary health science program, or equivalent.

Scholarships and Bursaries - Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine (RDKS)

Rural and Remote Nursing Incentive (RRNI)

Eligibility

  • Registered Nurse positions in identified rural and remote communities

Incentive

  • $10,000 incentive for a 3 year return of service
  • $2,000/year (for 4 years) toward professional development
  • Guaranteed full-time employment for 5 years

Rural and Remote Recruitment Incentive (RRRI)

Eligibility

  • Emergency RN and LPN regular positions in all Northern Health communities that provide emergency services.
  • Eligible RN and LPNs new to a rural and remote community including Prince George, who previously worked in urban/metro centre and who have relocated to Rural/Remote communities, or who are new to BC’s public health sector.
  • Incentive is prorated based on 1.0 FTE. The incentive will be back dated to April 1, 2024. This incentive offer is available until May 31, 2025.
