Post-secondary education in Northern BC
Prince George is the proud home of the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), which has been in operation since 1994, and the College of New Caledonia (CNC), established in 1969. The University is consistently rated extremely well in Maclean’s magazine and is a growing centre of research with local research funding now amounting to about $10 million annually. Both the college and the university offer medical training, with UNBC participating in the Northern Medical Program and the college offering programs in Medical Laboratory technology and Nursing. The biggest benefit to having two fantastic post-secondary institutions is that families living in Prince George can rest assured that their children can achieve their vocational dreams from home.
